2018 Forum for Implementation of the SDGs

On May 31st IHANs youth representative, Jourdan Williams, attended the 2018 Forum for Implementation of the SDGs which explored the innovative methods though which leaders in both the public and private sector are promoting the sustainable development goals in Japan. The forum was followed by a celebration of the World Day for Cultural Diversity entitled, Fashion Bridges Cultures: The international Common Language that is Fashion. Friends of the UN Asia Pacific (FOUNAP), World Federalist Movement Youth Forum (WFMYF) and the UN Office of Partnerships (UNOP) transformed the UN Delegates Dining Room into a runway for the evening and broadcast the advocacy event through Japanese media outlets. The catwalk featured looks inspired by the Sustainable Development Goals in addition to a guest appearance from the Children of Fukushima.

Ms. Williams was invited to design a set of banners for the event highlighting how UN Security Council Resolution 1325 on Women & Peace & Security as well as the UN Programme of Action on the Culture of Peace advance the implementation of SDGs #5 and #16 respectively.
