Economics of Gender Equity

Achieving the Sustainable Development Goals through Social Protection Systems

In addressing the priority theme of the 63rd Commission on the Status of Women, this seminar will explore key investments for enhancing  social protection systems, public services, and sustainable infrastructure in order to better protect and promote the rights to education, development, and the highest attainable standard of physical and mental health for all women and girls, including those in limited resource and humanitarian settings. An interdisciplinary program will evaluate best practices from around the globe for mitigating the economic, social, and political costs of gender inequity. Speakers will also provide concrete recommendations for the full and expedited implementation of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action,  in addition to recommendations of specific language for ongoing negotiations of the Agreed Conclusions, which addresses critical gaps in social protection, public services and infrastructure for vulnerable and marginalized populations of women and girls.
